Happy Minds at “Ananda Dhama”

There is a starting trouble for me as an Indian. Beginning any article I would ponder to get a right combination of words and activities which suit the scenario. However, I am not finding words to explain the feeling of what it was on a day’s outing to Ananda Dhama, by the entire team of LANSA.

Ananda Dhama is a place located around 110 km from Bangalore. It is princely located, what with a set of trees which shoots taller as the day grows down: saying they are up for us. River Kaveri is guzzling around, providing us a flowing thought of cool waters amidst heated star. Add to that a few ducklings and some tents, you have got a lot to enjoy for a day.

An early morning start ensured a lot of energy. The bus started with a buzz of the time of travel. All settled in a moment or two. As we started to move away from our very own concrete jungle, Shylock a campus mind from October batch was called upon for a song. He is a great guitarist with a soothing voice. To the utter disbelief of one and all, he started of a with a Kannada smash hit- “Anisutide Yaako Indu”. This kicked off a spat of songs ranging from Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The ball was set on a roll and the tempo was upped.

The organizers had got things right. Zameer had to compensate for coming late, he did so by providing chocolates and Vishnu pitched in with fruit juice. Zameer had to double up collecting the garbage and made a huge baggage of such collections. Sandhya started of Antakshari and Mrudhul was the border. Thus everyone had a part to play and ensured that a 3 hour long drive didn’t look quite that long.

Having reached the destination, everyone chilled out with a welcome drink. Breakfast was served once everyone had freshened up. The real fun began thus forth. A trek in the woods is always a nice way to rejoice with friends. The path was covered with some he trees and a stream here and there. There was some sweat released, what with the sun baking down. The team, powered by 33 Minds, had a nice pit stop near a small fall. The location was sweet and the water was neat. One could release the body heat in the cool waters and refresh for the next stage.

Some did sit down at the same location. Others had higher highs to scale. Senthil and Co. reached the summit, if I may call so. Rest of us just waited near a small cave for them to return as well as surpass the stress of the climb. After having some breathers, we climbed down the hill to complete a trek which contained moments of fun, ignited by sounds and creeps by these “Junglee” Minds.

The lunch was awaiting our arrival. We could see another set of MindTree Minds in the resort who also had come for the same thing. The lunch was laced with a mixture of north and south Indian cuisine. Eating after a trek is always fulfilling. Lunch was followed by a small cricket practice session. Everyone had a ball, and followed that with a bat. Having had a heart full, everyone ventured into some fun filled activities.

The resort locals call it the Jungle Gym. Well we made some near gymnasium and tried to emulate Tarzans of the group. The games were well planned out. The list had, balancing walk, rope swings, archery and ditch jump. It was in the ditch jump that most had fun. We had the joy of a lifetime when our own Joy alias Mrudhul Joy provided a great jump to cross the water in the ditch and landed the ditch what with water sprinkling all around. After having come back we would have watched the video at least 10 times and have had a great laugh.

This was the moment which all of us were waiting for. Hitting the waters was desperation to most of us. The river looked calm and nature pretty pleasant. The sun had a different direction to travel and we had one way left. That was the direction of the water flow. Boating was enjoyed with some water being splashed by the others. It was more of a raft than a boat.

In the waters, we had our catching skills being honed and refined. Having a catch, and swim was very much mutual in nature. An hour and a half in the river left many with sprains and cramps. But the spirit was maintained as the snacks and tea was served hot and fresh.

After having a change, some still had it in them to play cricket. Sandhya was ready with the bat and the bowlers followed suit. As the dark drenched upon us, it was time to leave “Ananda Dhama”. Everyone had great memories to take back home. The bus started and headed towards Bangalore. Tired bodies were rested, and hungry souls got to satiate at “Inchara” on reaching Bangalore.

All said and done, the outing was to freshen the minds. What turned out was freshening of both minds and the body. Everyone enjoyed the 15 odd hours spent with enjoyment and entertainment. Now we have many ears which are eagerly awaiting the sound which calls them for another “Ananda” time.
